Meet the Team | Women Networking in Sports of Niagara

Our Board of Directors

The WNS team is made up of five female athletes who grew up playing sports and understand the barriers that female athletes face. With backgrounds ranging from basketball to volleyball, this dedicated team is working to change the narrative for women in sports. Learn more about who we are below.

Quinn Vos

Chair

Quinn was born and raised in Welland. She has played many sports including basketball, soccer, rowing, softball, and golf. She is a basketball referee with the NDBRA since 09'. Quinn graduated from Brock University with a Bachelor of Education and Physical Education. She is currently working for Brock University where she plans and facilitates Outdoor Education programs for the NCDSB.

Lauren Aiello

Social Media & Communications

Lauren was born and raised in Welland. She earned a scholarship to the University of Central Florida where she competed in D1 rowing from 2013-2017, making 3 NCAA appearances during her career. Lauren is now a teacher with the Niagara Catholic District School Board. Lauren stays involved in sport by playing golf and softball.

Lauren Wardrope

Treasurer

Lauren grew up in Welland, Ontario. She attended post-secondary school at Western University where she graduated with a bachelor of management and organizational studies (BMOS) with a specialization in accounting. At Western, Lauren was a member of the women’s varsity golf team, where she played in the OUA for three seasons. Lauren is now a Chartered Professional Accountant at MNP LLP. Lauren stays involved in sport by playing rec basketball, softball, tennis and golf.

Kristy-Anne Wytenburg

At Large

Kristy-Anne grew up in Renfrew County and is currently located in Fort Erie. She graduated from Brock University with her Bachelor of Accounting and Masters of Accountancy. Kristy-Anne is a Charted Professional Accountant at RBW LLP in Fonthill. Known as Coach in the basketball community, she is currently an assistant coach with the Niagara College Women’s Basketball Program. As a coach Kristy-Anne has 2 OCAA bronze medals, and 3 SOSSA championships. She loves being involved with local youth basketball programs and spending her summer rowing at the Henley.

Sara Van Den Akker

Event Coordinator

Sara was born and raised in Welland, ON. She attended Notre Dame College High School. In her final year of high school, she earned a soccer scholarship to a Division II school called Concord University in West Virginia. Sara competed in the NCAA for two seasons before transferring back to Canada and attended the University of Guelph. At UoG, Sara was a member of the Gryphons Women's Soccer team and played in the OUA for three seasons. She completed her undergrad with a Bachelors of Applied Science (BASc) and then went on to McMaster University for the Accelerated Nursing Program.
